Creating useful things for screens and people since 2006

WYSIWYG.

Indiginus is the web studio founded by Ryan Duffy. Since 2006 I have been independently serving agencies and clients all over these United States. I work solo and with other talented folks to deliver digital goods to businesses in various stages and sizes.

About Ryan Duffy

Ryan has been working in and around the web for over a decade. He used to do "the agency thing" as a director and business development person but left that world to scratch the entreprenurial itch and get back to making things for people.

In addition to working with clients at Indiginus, Ryan spends time building Babywatch, being the best darned husband and father he can be, and traveling to distant lands to increment his all-important country count, which has currently plateaued at 13.

"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it." "To me, it's always a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?," you can say, "Sorry, got these sacks." "If God dwells inside us like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting." "If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong though. It's Hambone." "I bet if you reached total enlightenment while drinking beer, it would make beer squirt out your noise." "When you die, if you go somewhere where they ask you a bunch of questions about your life and what you learned and all, I think a good way to get out of it is just to say, 'No speaka English.'" "Many people never stop to realize that a tree is a living thing, not that different from a tall, leafy dog that has roots and is very quiet." "You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who make people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea." "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. Then on the way out, slam the door." "If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them." "When you go in for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges." "If you ever catch on fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because I bet that's what REALLY throws you into a panic."

More Deep Thoughts

01.

Hello, Hominids

Somewhere along the line, in the midst of adding features and making compromises, the web team forgot that real humans need to find it useful. Oh, and these people, they're busy. And they already looked at your competitor.

02.

The Next Big Thing

If our conversation about your new project begins with something like, "I heard the next big thing is <blank> " then we're probably not a good fit. Let's have a clear purpose or goal and let the technology decisions flow from that.

03.

1, 2... 5?

There's a process that produces consistently good results, and the process is proven. Skipping stuff is bad news. I've got the deformed Lego® kits to prove it.

04.

Quick & Nimble

Going into a long development cycle means the by the time you launch, it's already time to change again. Plan quick iterations of bite-sized changes to keep up with the speed of the web.

05.

The Project Triangle

This project planning and budgeting concept describes interactions between three key criteria. See Wikipedia article for reference.

06.

Good Enough

There is a trendy philosophy out there that says we do just enough to get by. Not so much. How about we do less, but do it all the way through and really well?

07.

Web = Awesome

Society has been seriously impacted in the last decade by the web and the innovation springing up out of it. Let us agree and rejoice in the fact that the web is fun and full of awesomeness.

08.

Good at Everything

Some folks will tell you they're good at everything. Maybe it's true, but probably not. I aspire to be great at some things: planning and designing sites that people like and use. And also building them. And doing mobile apps.

09.

The Jerk

There's nothing better than working with people you like. People who understand mutual respect and doing the right thing. So, if you're a jerk, do not apply within.

There is no ten. Why? Because filler content is about as useful as this.
