My friends at Locus brought me in to work with their client, a group at eBay focused on leveraging the company's influence to advance social and sustainability causes. The design project was a collaboration between eBay and The Giving Tree. The collective team wanted the online experience to be as realistic as possible, mimicking the experience of seeing a tree in the mall or office. There was some creative freedom but required adherence to the eBay brand guidelines and careful consideration of all the technical and logistic processes behind the scenes.
We worked through a range of privacy concerns, technical restraints, and logistics challenges to deliver an experience that eBay could implement quickly in time for the holiday season. The interaction and design simplifies a process that tends to become complicated, encourages an emotional connection grounded in realism, and lends itself to sharing.
