Rock of Roseville

Words

Overview

Rock of Roseville is a church in Northern California of about 1500 people.  Convinced that a modern communications strategy needed a stronger online presence, the call went out for help in developing a site that served a diverse range of ministries within the church and laid the groundwork for an online campus with a wider audience.

Outcomes

Functional requirements were prioritized and documented after meetings with various groups explored existing needs and future vision.  A technology stack and platform recommendation was followed by an extensive creative process that explored a wide range of branding directions.  Content planning and information architecture were key aspects of the design process as the staff planned and trained for the maintenance of a large online system.

The site was built on Wordpress MU with a custom theming system that allowed for customizations on the 9 sub-community sites.  WP API scripting pulled video content from the media blog into all the other sites, and special considerations were made concerning the evaluation and centralized implementation of WU compatible plugins to minimize maintenance.

"We had a tough challenge in redesigning the site with so many desired outcomes and Ryan led us through the process from strategy, to creative, to content, to technical. The end result struck a great balance between control and flexibility for the wide range of needs and skills among our various ministries. He really engaged our team as a problem solver and partner in the process."
